James West and Artemus Gordon are two agents of President Grant who take their splendidly appointed private train through the west to fight evil. Half science fiction and half western, Artemus designs a series of interesting gadgets for James that would make Inspector Gadget proud. A lighthearted adventure series. Two Secret Service Agents, equipped with a wide array of gizmos, work for the government in the Old West. I loved watching "The Wild Wild West" while growing up in California, and I'm loving watching the DVD box set with my kids thirty years later in Germany. "The Wild Wild West" is timeless: Terrific acting, fantastic gadgets, fun villains, gorgeous women, and beautiful colors and costumes. Plus the humor and irony are impeccable. The title music and animation are also a real treat.

As a boy, I wanted nothing more than to be James West and to cruise around the country in his amazing train. As a middle-aged man, my dream is as vivid as ever, enjoyed all over again through the eyes of my kids.

I can highly recommend this series to fans of James Bond, The Avengers, and Westerns. It's a wonderful blend of them all, and definitely very stylish. And a great one it was. Forget the movie version, that was over produced and just plain bad, THIS is the good one. Sort of sci-fi, sort of western, but all cool, this was dealing with spy/counterspy in a way that made us all feel safe at night. Robert Conrad was just great, and Ross Martin steals the show with his unrecognizable disguises. Great fun.
